Obama: I’ve Never Tried to Suggest Someone’s Unpatriotic for Disagreeing

FLASHBACK: Obama in 2008: Bush 'irresponsible,' 'unpatriotic' for debt management

President Obama said politicians should not suggest those who disagree with them are “unpatriotic” or “victims” in his Tuesday interview with David Letterman.

“One thing I’ve never tried to do–and I think none of us can do in public office–is suggest that because someone doesn’t agree with me, that they’re victims or they’re unpatriotic,” Obama said.

But in an infamous clip from 2008, Obama did just that, criticizing then President George W. Bush for his “irresponsible,” “unpatriotic” handling of the national debt.

The Right Scoop highlighted the clip Wednesday morning.
