MSNBC Host Compares Trump to Voldemort

November 1, 2016

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle on Tuesday teased an upcoming segment on House Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) voting for Donald Trump by referring to the Republican nominee as the main villain from the Harry Potter series.

"Coming up, Paul Ryan just announced who he voted for but why he won't actually say the name," Ruhle said. "This is like Voldemort."

Voldemort is often referred to as "He who must not be named" throughout the ever popular Harry Potter series.

Ryan had appeared on Fox News' Fox and Friends earlier Tuesday morning and discussed his plans to campaign for Republicans down ballot and mentioned that he would be out of town on Election Day. Ryan said that he voted via absentee ballot for the Republican candidate.

Ruhle had previously let her colors show when she asked Trump's campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, how she faces her kids at night.

"When there are six people corroborating the People’s Magazine story you still say her word against his?" Ruhle asked Conway in an interview two weeks ago. "You've got to look at your kids when you go home at night."

When Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence appeared on Ruhle's time block last month, she tried to guilt him over the fact that her lifelong Republican mother would not be voting for Trump.

"My mom is a lifetime Republican and she is a Catholic, but before her party, she puts being treated as an equal and with respect, and what she believes in before being a Republican," Ruhle said. "When I saw her on Saturday, she said, 'He's gone too far; I can't vote for this man; he doesn't respect you, Stephanie, and never will.'"
