Hillary Clinton pledged her love of hot sauce in an interview Monday and proceeded to admit that her love of spicy stuff was part of a greater effort to gain the New York black vote.

When asked on the radio show The Breakfast Club to name an item that she always carries with her, Clinton unflinchingly answered "hot sauce."

Radio hosts DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne the God responded with disbelief.

"Really? Really?" said DJ Envy, while Angela Yee covered her face and laughed.

"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah," Clinton affirmed her answer.

Charlamagne Tha God then asked Clinton whether she was getting "in formation," a reference to a song by Beyonce in which the singer says, "I keep hot sauce in my bag, swag."

"Hot sauce. Yes, yes," Clinton kept saying.

Charlamagne Tha God warned that Clinton would be accused of "pandering to black people" for her comment – an accusation that Clinton did not deny.

"OK. Is it working?" Clinton said and again voiced her commitment to hot sauce. "No seriously, hot sauce, I’ve been eating a lot of hot sauce."

Clinton did not name a specific brand that she liked most, nor did she pull a tiny bottle of hot sauce out of her bag during the interview.
