Cuomo: Were Bernie Sanders Supporters Treating Clinton Like a Sex Worker By Throwing Money at Her?

April 18, 2016

CNN's Chris Cuomo asked Hillary for America spokesman Brian Fallon about Clinton's recent high dollar fundraiser with George Clooney and the protestors outside of the event, wondering if the Bernie Sanders supporters there were likening Clinton to a sex worker with their dollar-bill throwing.

The protestors, most who are supporting Sanders, threw dollar bills at Clinton's car in her motorcade into the fundraiser. Tickets for the fundraiser started at $33,000 per couple. The protestors are part of the movement to get money out of politics, something that the host of the event agrees with.

"Did you see them throwing dollar bills at her in the car? Why dollar bills? Is that some type of reference to, you know, sexual trade reference? And did you hear that guy say, Democratic whores? Do you think that's a coincidence?" Cuomo asked. "Now, to hear from the other side, they say, 'Yeah, it is a coincidence, they're throwing money.' And the guy apologized for saying whores and said that he was talking about Congress, not Hillary Clinton. Do you believe there is sexism involved in her negative numbers?"

Fallon scolded the Sanders campaign for the behavior of his supporters and said that the focus should be on the issues. Fallon was confident Clinton will receive the nomination and said he hoped Sanders would endorse her.

Earlier in the show Errol Lewis had said that the reason Clinton's numbers were so low was because she is a woman. Fallon would not comment but said that he would let other make that decision.

Chris Cillizza of The Washington Post reported that Clinton's likability numbers are at an all-time low. Only 37 percent of poll respondents believe that Clinton is honest and trustworthy.

The New York primary is Tuesday, and currently Clinton has the lead over Sanders in the state she represented in the U.S. Senate.
