Clinton Spokeswoman on Hillary's Private Email: 'She Didn't Really Think It Through'

August 19, 2015

Hillary Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri said that Clinton "didn't really think it through" when she elected to have a private email server in an interview Wednesday with Bloomberg's John Heilemann.

Heilemann asked Palmieri why Clinton had made the decision to use a private email account as secretary of state. The saga is dogging Clinton's campaign and sinking her poll numbers as questions about the security of the server and revelations that classified emails passed through it during her tenure call into question her trustworthiness and competence.

"I've encountered this a lot in politics, where people think that the answer is a lot more complicated than it really is, and she's answered this many times," Palmieri said. "She did have her own email account. Uh, others had done it before, and it was just more convenient and she kept it like that. And she didn't really think--that's the thing, she didn't really think it through, and she has said, had she, she would have done it differently."
