A Swedish trade union, Unionen, created and has been running a hotline that raises awareness for sexism and mansplaining in the workplace, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

The hotline was formed for men and women to call in anonymously to ask questions and request advice on how to make their workplace more inclusive:

A large Swedish trade union has been running a weeklong hotline where people can talk about condescending or patronizing co-workers in an effort to raise awareness about workplace sexism and start a discussion about relations between employees.

"People call in to explain what they see and how they live it. In our opinion, a lot still needs to be done in Sweden, where we see inequalities when it comes to salaries and careers where men often are chosen," [Unionen spokeswoman Jennie] Zetterstrom told the Associated Press.

Zetterstrom said the hotline has been a "huge success."

They even created a word for the hotline: "mansplainingakut." This is a hybrid word that combines "mansplaining" in English and "emergency" in Swedish (akutfall).

A frequently asked question to the hotline is: "What to do if a female coworker is being ignored by a man in your work group."

"Our advice is that men should ask more questions before embarking on explanations," Zetterstrom said. "And listen to women."

This hotline is set to close on Friday. However, Unionen still plans on helping to reduce mansplaining in the workplace.
