The Clintons have been known for secrecy and playing by their own rules.
When Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, she continued that stereotype. Reporters are considering the way Clinton handled the email scandal surrounding her the first real test for 2016.
Time’s Alex Altman said that instead of Clinton coming out immediately to address the scandal, she let it fester for nearly nine days. When Clinton did address the scandal, she came across as "flat-footed" and flustered.
Altman also reported on the new staffers that Clinton has brought in and how there has been tension between the two groups. Altman said there have been things that are leaking to the press in peculiar ways.
"When things don’t go right, they leak," Altman said.
Time also spoke with an expert from the National Archives, who had said that Clinton did not meet best practices when it came to scrubbing the emails from her time at the State Department.
Clinton used keyword searches that included Benghazi, Libya, State Department email address, and staffers that Clinton was known to have emailed frequently.
This increases the chance that Clinton and her team would have deleted an email that could have relevant information pertaining to her time in Foggy Bottom.
