Nevada Voters Support Pot, But Not Hillary

September 30, 2016

Several Nevada voters appear to be supporting marijuana on an upcoming ballot initiative, but not Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

MSNBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff on Friday went to a medical marijuana dispensary, where he talked to Nevada voters about how they will vote in November. On the ballot in November, Nevada residents will vote on whether or not to decriminalize recreational use of marijuana

"Are you going to vote for marijuana?" Soboroff asked one voter. "It’s on the ballot in November."

"Uh, yeah, I am," Loreina Corwin said.

"Which way are you going to vote, for legalization or against?" Soboroff asked.

"Legalization," Corwin responded.

"And what about for president? Are you going to vote for president?" Soboroff asked.

"That’s a tough one. I mean, are we talking politics here or weed?" Corwin said.

"So, you think you’ll vote for weed and not for president?" Soboroff asked.

"Yeah. Both of them aren’t really my first choice," Corwin said before saying that she would have voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.).

Soboroff then asked another voter, Alex Martin, how he plans to vote in November.

"Full recreational legalization is on the ballot. Are you going to go out and vote for that?" Soboroff asked.

"Yes, yes, yes," Martin said.

"And are you going to vote for president as well?" Soboroff asked.

"Uh, no," Martin said.

"Are you Democrat, Republican?" Soboroff asked.

"Democrat," Martin said.

"And so you’re not going to vote for Hillary Clinton, but you’re going to vote for weed?" Soboroff asked.

"Yeah," Martin said.

Clinton has had a problem appealing to younger voters, who have been a target of hers lately on the campaign trail.
