MSNBC Host: Trump Watches Morning Joe 'Every Day Like a Slave'

June 6, 2018

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace remarked President Donald Trump watches "Morning Joe" every day "like a slave" during her program on Wednesday.

On her show "Deadline: White House," Wallace lit into Trump for his tweets about First Lady Melania Trump's prolonged public absence and the subsequent media speculation about her whereabouts.

Wallace rehashed the saga from a year ago when Trump blasted "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on Twitter. He claimed Brzezinski was "bleeding badly from a facelift" when the pair visited him at Mar-a-Lago the prior New Year's Eve, and he also mentioned he no longer watches their show.

Scarborough shot back at Trump for his comments about a possible Melania "facelift" on Wednesday, tweeting, "I agree that it would be "vicious" and "unfair" to lie about a loved one having a facelift for the purpose of causing pain and embarrassment. Mr. President, can you imagine anyone would be so cruel to do such a thing?"

As Wallace read out Trump's original tweet about not watching "Morning Joe" anymore, she added, "As if he doesn't watch. He watches every day like a slave."

While Trump is known to watch and tweet responses to "Fox & Friends," a program friendly to his administration, it's unclear if he still tunes into "Morning Joe." The New York Times reported last December he'll sometimes watch the MSNBC show because "it fires him up for the day."

The two hosts were noticeably friendly with him and his campaign when he began running for the GOP nomination, but as the general election wore on and since he became president, Scarborough and Brzezinski have been among his harshest critics in the media.
