MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell offered a scathing assessment of First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday, tweeting all one needed to know about her was she joined the Trump family willingly.
"The only thing you need to know about Melania is ... she’s a Trump," O'Donnell wrote. "A Trump by choice."
Melania Trump made news this week by criticizing journalists as "opportunists" who advance themselves through criticism of her and her family.
"I’d say the opportunists who are using my name or my family name to advance themselves, from comedians to journalists to performers, book writers," she told Fox News. "It doesn’t hurt. The problem is they’re writing the history and it’s not correct."
The only thing you need to know about Melania is ...
she’s a Trump.
A Trump by choice.

Born in Slovenia, Melania Trump is a former fashion model who married Donald Trump in 2005, and she's the first U.S. first lady to be a naturalized U.S. citizen.
O'Donnell's broadside followed criticism of the first lady's comments by a CNN panel Wednesday on "Tonight with Don Lemon," where analyst Susan Glasser criticized her sense of "aggrievement."
"First of all, she has this incredible air of aggrievement," Glasser said. "Here is this extraordinary story of a woman who came to this country as an immigrant, as a model, and is now the first lady of the United States and you would think in her rare public appearances, you know, that some terrible wrong has been done to her in this country. I’ve always been surprised by that air of grievance that she carries very publically with her."
