Washington Free Beacon senior writer Elizabeth Harrington told Fox News' Sandra Smith that former FBI director James Comey is always "inserting himself into the spotlight."
Harrington's comments came during a discussion with progressive political commentator Wendy Osefo about the upcoming release of Comey's new book, which is a blistering critique of the president, and his related media appearances. Harrington said there was a theme to how Comey operates.
"Comey somehow always comes across looking out like the only honest guy in the room, the straight shooter. And it's just kind of laughable because all the scandals of leadership that happened on Comey's watch, always inserting himself into the spotlight, which is what he is doing with this book," Harrington said.
Harrington also commented on the "odd personal attacks" Comey makes against Trump in his book, including Comey's claim that Trump looked like he had just been tanning.
"Whatever happened to ‘when they go low, we go high?’" Harrington said.
Osefo pointed out that Comey was a Republican for many years, but Harrington reminded her of a key fact, that he no longer was one.
