Clinton Can't Say Whether She Would Have Kept Comey as FBI Director if She Had Won

Hillary Clinton could not say Thursday whether she would have kept former FBI Director James Comey in his post had she won the 2016 presidential election.

Clinton spoke with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, who asked her the hypothetical question during the course of a longer interview.

"If you were president today, would he still be FBI director?" Maddow asked.

"That's a really good question," Clinton said. "I don't know the answer to that, because once I wasn't president I didn't think about it. I didn't analyze it at all, so, I don't really know."

Clinton has blamed Comey, among others, for her loss to Donald Trump. However, many Democrats blasted Trump for firing Comey, a man whose impact on the election they had reviled.

Clinton has been doing a series of interviews to promote her book, What Happened, which revolves around her historic loss in the 2016 presidential campaign.
