Nearly half of all Senate Democrats did not heed a request by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) to be at their desks in the chamber by 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a Politico reporter tweeted.
According to Seung Min Kim, Schumer wanted all 48 Senate Democrats to be there at 9:30 a.m. in response to President Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey. She wrote that only 28 were there on time.
Schumer asked all 48 Senate Dems to be at their desks at 9:30. About 28 are here.

Schumer went on to sharply criticize the Trump administration for its handling of the Comey matter and called for a special prosecutor to investigate allegations of collusion between the Russians and the Trump campaign.
