America is drowning in bullshit, and few dare to call it out. Take Jake Sullivan’s wife, for example.
Life isn’t easy being married to Sullivan. He's balding. His face is weirdly bony. And as Joe Biden's national security adviser, he's responsible for some of the worst foreign policy disasters in modern American history. Yuck.
It was only fitting, then, that Sullivan's wife packed her carpetbags, left her loser husband in Washington, D.C., and traipsed off to New Hampshire, where she rented a place to stay and sought employment as a congresswoman of the Granite State.
She already owned a (vacation) home in New Hampshire. But living there and bearing the Sullivan family name wouldn't do. No, to the voters, she would be known as Maggie Goodlander, a humble, working-class renter who understands the plight of the common man.
"I am a renter, and there should be more renters in Congress," Goodlander told the New York Times in May.
Bullshit. But the voters didn’t know that until Goodlander came face to face with her Republican opponent, Lily Tang Williams, one fateful evening in late October.
Being a survivor of communist China who immigrated to the United States in 1988 with just $100 in her pocket, Tang Williams knows bullshit when she sees it. And boy, did she spot a heaping pile of it on the debate stage that evening.

"You are wealthy! You are worth 20 million to 30 million dollars!" Tang Williams unleashed in a torrent of broken English and righteous indignation. "How do you know about regular people suffering? Do you go shopping, go to Walmart and buy food? I talk to those people, and you pretend to be renter in Nashua a few months ago moving back to run for this open seat with millions of dollars from Washington, D.C., insiders."
Phew. But Tang Williams wasn’t finished.
"Your husband Jake Sullivan, national security adviser, is causing world on fire because he's incompetent," Tang Williams said with beastlike authority. "He should get fired."
Fact check: true on all counts.
The voters granted Tang Williams’s wish, firing Jake Sullivan and the rest of the Biden administration in November amid a groundswell of Republican support from Asian immigrants fed up with Democratic bullshit.
"We drink sweet tea! We don’t drink socialist Kool-Aid!" one freedom-loving Asian immigrant roared outside a Trump rally in August.
For her part, Tang Williams put up a good fight, but the electoral odds were stacked against her. Goodlander will go on to serve in Congress in January, where she will carry on her husband’s legacy of failure and disappointment.
It's a disappointing result for America. Tang Williams, however, won something better than a seat in the House of Representatives that October evening: a Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year award.
