Claim: "Anthony Weiner ... the pervert."
Who said it: Donald Trump, former president of the United States, according to an audio recording obtained by CNN.
Context: A portion of the audio recording was cited in the Biden administration's indictment of Trump on charges of mishandling classified information. CNN released a longer version that includes the following exchange:
• Disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, a registered sex offender, served 16 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to transferring obscene material to a minor in 2017.
• Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after accidentally posting a photo of his engorged private parts on Twitter. He initially claimed to have been "hacked" before ultimately admitting to sexting with multiple young women.
• He is the ex-husband of Huma Abedin, a longtime aide and confidant of Hillary Clinton. Several weeks before Election Day in 2016, the FBI found emails related to their investigation of Clinton's private server on Weiner's laptop. The rest is history.
Analysis: Trump was right once again. In 2013, when Weiner was running for mayor of New York City, Trump declared: "We don't want perverts elected in New York City. No perverts." New York City voters agreed. Weiner lost the Democratic primary, receiving less than five percent of the vote.
Verdict: We rate this claim Zero Clintons.
