Just 33 percent of Americans approve of President Joe Biden's job performance, according to a Quinnipiac poll published Wednesday. That matches the polling firm's lowest recorded approval rating for President Donald Trump following the Capitol riot in January 2021.
The poll is terrible news for Biden and his cheerleaders in the mainstream media, who are increasingly out of touch with average Americans yet continue to insist that Biden has a mandate to enact radical change. In fact, the president's approval rating is just 25 percent among independent voters and 28 percent among Hispanics, according to the poll. Even among Democratic voters, Biden's approval rating has declined from 87 percent in November to just 75 percent today.
The American people give Biden poor marks on just about every issue, whether it's the economy (34 percent approval), foreign policy (35 percent), or his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic (39 percent), which he famously promised to "shut down." As of this week, more than 430,000 Americans have died from the virus on his watch.
Biden was elected in part because voters believed he could unite the country, not because they supported the Democratic Party, which faired rather poorly at the state level. Now the American people aren't so sure that Biden has what it takes to be a unifying leader. According to the poll, 49 percent of Americans said Biden is "doing more to divide the country," compared with just 42 percent who said he's "doing more to unite the country."
Good luck in the midterms!
