TNT's 'The Last Ship' Debuts to Huge Numbers

June 23, 2014

The new pro-military, Michael Bay-produced, Adam Baldwin-starring The Last Ship debuted to huge numbers last night. Here's the Hollywood Reporter:

There's more good news for TNT. The network's second scripted launch of the summer,The Last Ship, set a new 2014 high for cable. Sunday's premiere took in 5.3 million viewers. ...

The Last Ship fared even better looking at the whole night. It grossed 7.4 million viewers over the night, with demo hauls of 2.6 million adults 25-54 and 2.3 million adults 18-49. TNT still has several more originals slated for the summer — including new entry Legendson Aug. 13.

I was one of the 7.4 million to catch the show Sunday and found it to be, generally speaking, quite entertaining. Think The Walking Dead but with fewer whining malcontents and a greater sense of purpose, as imagined by Michael Bay. And, as I wrote above, it stars Adam Baldwin, who you should be following on Twitter if you're into politics and pop culture.
