President Donald Trump on Friday mocked news outlets reporting that he may replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, saying the idea shows the media's dishonesty.
CNN reported Thursday that Trump is keeping Pruitt around, despite embarrassing reports about him, because he wants the EPA chief to be a potential replacement for Sessions. Trump dismissed the idea completely on Twitter, and also praised Pruitt's performance at the EPA.
"Do you believe that the Fake News Media is pushing hard on a story that I am going to replace A.G. Jeff Sessions with EPA Chief Scott Pruitt, who is doing a great job but is TOTALLY under siege?" Trump asked. "Do people really believe this stuff? So much of the media is dishonest and corrupt!"

Pruitt has faced criticism over his relationship with an energy lobbyist, as well as reports that he spent agency money irresponsibly. Trump's support for Pruitt and contention that he is "under siege" appear to indicate, however, that he is not planning to oust Pruitt over these reports.
