House Speaker Paul Ryan's (R., Wis.) political action committee has made its largest financial transfers of the year as Republican candidates prepare for the 2018 midterm elections.

Prosperity Action PAC announced Monday that it has given 143 different Republicans lawmakers a total of $715,000 for the 2018 election cycle.

These transfers came after Ryan raised more than $44 million for Prosperity Action PAC in 2017, the largest amount that a House speaker has ever raised in a year prior to a midterm election.

Ryan founded the PAC and serves as honorary chairman of Prosperity Action, Inc.

Kevin Seifert, executive director of Ryan's political operations, said in a statement that the House speaker wants Republican members of the House to be able to discuss the benefits of the GOP tax reform law as they gear up to defend their majority.

"House Republicans have spent the past year keeping their promise to pass conservative policies and working to help the American people keep more of what they earn," Seifert said. "The largest result of that is now being felt after the passage of generational tax reform."

"Whether it's higher wages for workers, bonuses for people that need them the most, or the $2,000 that the average family will save, this tax package is improving life across the board for so many Americans, as is cutting red tape and shrinking government bureaucracy," Seifert added. "The speaker wants to make sure that our members have the resources they need to talk about this success story."
