After learning that Vice President Mike Pence was staying at the same Manhattan hotel, actress and model Pamela Anderson tried to flirt her way through Secret Service to talk to him.

The former "Baywatch" star's attempt ultimately proved unsuccessful, Page Six reported.

A Secret Service agent, who a witness said "practically swooned and fainted" as Anderson pushed her finger on his badge, refused her request and told Anderson "the vice president was busy."

When asked by Page Six for her account of the events, Anderson said she wanted to thank Pence for protecting journalists.

"He is heralded for co-sponsoring proposals for a ‘federal shield law,’ which I deeply admire. This action would have allowed journalists to keep confidential sources secret — even if the government requested them," Anderson said.

Part of her interest in the issue is driven by her view that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is a "hero."

"Julian Assange deserves a pardon, and I thought I might be able to help," Anderson said. "Julian is a hero to most of the world’s youth and free-minded thinking people. America needs to be on the right side of history."

Assange was accused in 2010 of rape and sexual assault, and after spending five years hiding out in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, Sweedish prosecutors announced in May they were dropping charges, Vox reported at the time.

British officials said in May they would still arrest Assange if he left the embassy’s grounds as there is warrant for his arrest for his failure to appear in court in the United Kingdom. Assange also faces possible extradition to the United States where he is under investigation for the release of highly classified documents leaked by former U.S. Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning.
