Washington Free Beacon reporter Elizabeth Harrington said Monday that the Republican Party will have "huge problems" if their only accomplishment at the end of the year is rubber stamping Obama's legacy.
Harrington appeared on a Fox Business panel where host Charles Payne asked Harrington what former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon's "60 Minutes" interview on CBS meant for policy going forward in the White House and on Capitol Hill.
"I think it means that Bannon is going to go to the mat and continue to go to the mat for President Trump, and all these issues that really got him elected in the first place, which is repealing health care, immigration, jobs, and 'America First.' That was his platform," Harrington said.
Trump will really be pushing out key issues like immigration and job creation, Harrington claimed, and holding Republicans accountable if they don't follow through on supporting his agenda.
"If Congress doesn't follow through on the president's priorities on health care and on immigration and the wall, but they do rubber stamp an Obama-era legacy, I think they're going to have huge problems if that's their only legislative accomplishment by the end of the year," Harrington said.
Payne asked Lanhee Chen, the former chief policy adviser to Mitt Romney, about Bannon, and what impact he will have on the Trump administration from outside the White House.
"Well, I think Bannon is going to have a huge impact from the outside," Chen said. "He's going to have much more of an ability to shape this Trump agenda, but more importantly, to shape the support for the Trump agenda."
