New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R.) did not receive a friendly reception on Tuesday night when he caught a foul ball at the New York Mets baseball game.
Christie caught a foul ball on the first base side of Citi Field during the third inning of the Mets' game against the St. Louis Cardinals. After catching the baseball with his left hand, the crowd erupted with boos while he gave some high-fives to nearby fans and gave the ball to a kid sitting a few rows behind him.
"A souvenir for Chris Christie. Are you kidding me?" said Fox Sports broadcaster Dan McLaughlin.
"Nice to see him get from the beach here to the ballpark," McLaughlin added.
This is not the first time that Christie has been castigated by sports fans, as he was called a "bully" and a "fat ass" live on the radio earlier this month while guest-hosting Mike Francesa's sports talk show, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Christie received heavy criticism over the weekend of July 4th when NJ Advance Media took aerial photos of Christie lounging with his family and friends on Island Beach State Park, which was forced to close due to a partial government shutdown due to deadlock over the state budget.
