FLASHBACK: Evan Bayh Guaranteed Email Scandal Wouldn't Be Campaign Issue

It looks like Evan Bayh owes everybody at Fox News a steak dinner.

Bayh was confident last year that nobody would care about the then-emerging scandal surrounding Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

"Chris, I'm I will bet everybody here a steak dinner that this will not be an issue in the upcoming election," said Bayh during a March 2015 appearance on Fox News with Chris Wallace.

Now, eleven days from election day, the Clinton campaign has been sent scrambling after the FBI announced on Friday that it had found new information that is "pertinent" to its investigation into the Democratic presidential candidate.

FBI Director James Comey in a letter to congressional leaders wrote that the agency would be taking "appropriate investigative steps" with the new information.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation," Comey wrote. "I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation."
