Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski said Friday morning that she wished Vice President Joe Biden was running for president of the United States this election cycle.
Brzezinski first showed a clip of Biden speaking in Warren, Ohio on Thursday criticizing Donald Trump and his "you’re fired" catch phrase.
"If you ever sat there and talked about people like he does, I’m not joking, I really genuinely mean this. If you ever sat there and talked about how cool it was that John down the street got fired. You’re fired. A phrase he’s made famous. You’re fired," Biden said. "You oughta come from a household where some people were fired. Where the plant closed down. Where all of a sudden they’re staring at the ceiling wondering how in God’s name am I gonna make it."
"And wow. I wish he was running," Brzezinski responded on air.
Co-host Joe Scarborough reflected on Biden’s soundbite because he personally experienced living in a household where his father was laid off.
"I tell you what, I have been in one of those households" Scarborough said. "Where my father was laid off during recession, the early 1970s. And you do, it changes the way you look at everything."
"What a great point," Brzezinski said.
