Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is soliciting applications for its unpaid fall fellowships, sending a message to supporters this week asking those interested to sign up for information on becoming a fellow.

Fall fellows are unpaid and expected to work between 15 and 30 hours a week at minimum, according to Hillary for America’s application page for the positions. A full-time fellow will work 40 or more hours per week, while part-time fellows will put in more than 15 hours each week. The program runs eight weeks, meaning that full-time fellows will put in 320 hours or more of unpaid work.

Clinton has previously come under fire for not paying her interns. The Democratic presidential candidate, who is due to deliver an economic speech this week, is a proponent of raising the minimum wage and has positioned herself as a champion of the middle class.

Fellows will participate in training, work with grassroots leaders and campaign officials in local communities, collect voter registration forms, and help recruit new volunteers, in addition to other tasks.

"Fellows will be trained on the basics of organizing and campaign fundamentals and then placed in a community to carry out grassroots activities," the application page states. "This eight-week program is designed to test, train, and develop a new class of organizers, and to help the campaign expand our outreach efforts in communities across the country."

"This is a highly competitive program. The deadline to apply for the Fall 2016 internship is August 26, and acceptances will occur on a rolling basis. All fellowships with Hillary for America are unpaid, volunteer positions," the application says.

Clinton is scheduled to speak Thursday in Detroit, where she is expected to draw a contrast between her plan to create jobs and boost the economy with that of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who delivered his own economic policy address on Monday.
