A Florida grandmother warded off three intruders with her handgun on Tuesday.
The woman was home alone in the early afternoon when a man began banging on her door. When she didn't answer the man left but came back a short while later with a shirt covering his face. That's when the grandmother ran to her bedroom and grabbed a .22 caliber handgun. The man and two others came crashing through her front door.
"I heard something, glass breaking and then I was freaking out," she told CBS12. "I decided that it's either them or me, you know. I had to save my life. One of them came to the door here and opened it and when he did I had the gun in his face."
The three intruders were terrified at the sight of the grandmother with a gun and immediately ran out of the house. No shots were fired and the grandmother was unscathed in the altercation. The intruders were unable to steal anything on their way out of the house.
The woman credited her handgun for saving her life. "I think it's wonderful," she told the news station of her gun. "I think it's the only thing that saved me. It was my Godsend. I don't know what I would've done without it. I've never experienced anything like that before in my life. It was horrible, to have three strangers in your house and ransacking it. I was very angry. It's like, how dare you do this! You know?"
"This is our home."
The woman said she would encourage all of her neighbors to arm themselves and that she would upgrade her own arsenal in the coming days.
