WFB's Bill McMorris on FNC Red Eye

September 22, 2015

Washington Free Beacon's own Bill McMorris appeared on Fox News' late night show Red Eye. The panel discussed Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson's comments that he would not support having a Muslim run for president. Carson walked back his comments on Facebook, saying that he could never support a Muslim candidate who did not renounce Sharia Law.

Comedian Judy Gold took issue with all the talk about religion in the election. Michelle Fields said that religion is an important part of a lot of people's lives, and that they wanted to hear the candidates' perspectives. Gold said that she wanted a commander in chief who uses science, knowledge, and experience rather than basing policy on religion.

"You're talking about the doctor who was a brain surgeon for babies for 40 years," McMorris said.

Gold replied that being a surgeon does not make Carson a good person.

"Tell me about your scientific knowledge in comparison to Ben Carson," McMorris said.

"Maybe he is great in science, but he is not great in other things," Gold said.

McMorris said that if Gold wanted a candidate that had experience in science, then she would have to endorse Carson.

"You would not be the only person—he won the General Hospital vote right away with those comments," McMorris said.

Later in the segment, the panel agreed that the question that Carson was asked was a "stupid question" and that he should have ignored it.

Gold also said that Carson's comments show his emotional intelligence, and how a person needs to be well rounded to be president.
