Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D., Wis.), the first openly gay Senator, said Monday she wants to meet with secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel, particularly on LGBT issues.
Hagel infamously opposed an ambassadorial nominee in 1998 for being "openly, aggressively gay." Baldwin said she would like to discuss Hagel's recent apology for the comments, to see if his apology is "sincere and sufficient."
