Four Obama promises from the 2008 town hall debate

Then Sen. Barack Obama promised a number of things in the 2008 town hall debate -- reforms to Medicare and Social Security in his first term, 5 million green jobs, and budget restraint. Buzzfeed collected the top four Obama promises from the 2008 debate against Sen. John McCain:

1. "We're going to have to take on entitlements, and I think we gotta do it quickly...I'd like to do it in my first term"

2. "We can create 5 million new jobs."

3. "I want to go through the budget line by line, eliminate programs that don't work, and make programs that do work cost less."

4. "I'm cutting more than I'm spending."
