President Obama has come under fire for his activities the day of the Malaysia jetliner crash, but White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest staunchly defended the President against any backlash resulting from his schedule that day.
ABC’s Jon Karl questioned whether the president’s activities should have been cut to deal with the aftermath of the Malaysia jetliner crash. "Was it a mistake to have the president continue on his schedule and before making his first statement about this (the downed Malaysia jetliner), going and ordering cheeseburgers at The Charcoal Pit up in Delaware, and continue on what looked like a campaign schedule, including fundraisers in New York? Was that a mistake, in hindsight?" Karl asked Earnest.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest responded, "It was not…If there were a requirement for the president to change his schedule so that he could attend to this urgent priority and fulfill his responsibilities as Commander in Chief, we would have not hesitated to make that change."
He defended the president’s decision to continue with his schedule by saying that the he had called foreign leaders and predicted that the president will likely follow suit this week.
