Rep. Pitts on Obamacare: ‘This is a Broken Law’

‘They are losing credibility every day’

December 12, 2013

Rep. Joe Pitts (R., Penn.) grilled Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius with questions regarding the failed rollout of Obamacare as she sat on the hot seat at Wednesday’s hearings about Obamacare.

Fox News’ Bill Hemmer spoke with Pitts to discuss the heated exchange.

Asked what he had learned from the hearings, Pitts replied that Sebelius "is less than forthright," referring to her inability to correctly define enrollment in Obamacare. Pitts continued "they wouldn't admit how many cancellations there were. They wouldn't tell is how many were actually enrolled. They won't admit this is harming the American public. They don't admit their broken promises. Unfortunately, they are not trustworthy."

Pitts added that he believes the administration is deliberately withholding information, as has been the case in the past, and called the lack of transparency regarding the information flow between HHS and Congress "a rolling disaster."

The problems extend further than website glitches, he told Hemmer- the Obamacare law itself is "broken," especially because many Americans think they are covered with health insurance, but will find out on January 1 that they are not. Hundreds of thousands of Americans with preexisting conditions who will lose their health insurance as well.

Pitts predicted that younger Americans will likely opt to pay the $95 fine instead of paying for a premium under the Obamacare health insurance plans that they cannot afford.
