The Bidens are never going to forget what Nancy Pelosi took from them. The former House speaker was the most vocal figure urging President Joe Biden to end his reelection bid last summer after he bragged about beating Medicare during the debate. Biden's long-suffering wife, Dr. Jill Biden, delivered a parting shot at Pelosi during her exit interview with the Washington Post.
"We were friends for 50 years," Biden said in her "teacher's voice," according to the Post. "It was disappointing."
They "were" friends for nearly half a century, but not anymore. One can only imagine what Dr. Jill would say if she wasn't being recorded. Her old friend Mary Doody offered some insight into Biden's true feelings. "It was awful. It was mean. It was disrespectful," she said of Pelosi's efforts to force Biden out of the race. "She talked a lot about that. I know I’m biased, but Joe Biden did not deserve that."
Jill is notorious for holding grudges. She didn't want her husband to pick Kamala Harris as a running mate because she was still mad at Harris for implying Joe was racist during a primary debate. It's likely she played a role in Joe's decision to immediately endorse Kamala after dropping out in July 2024, a final act of revenge on Pelosi, who reportedly favored an open primary that might have produced a more competent candidate.
What Pelosi did was unforgivable. She robbed Jill of the opportunity to serve as acting president for another four years. According to Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian, Jill was desperate to maintain her authority and use it to smite her enemies. "She likes power," Brinkley said. "She wants to stay. She wants some sense of revenge."

Jill also delivered a subtle dig at former first lady Michelle Obama, who will not attend Donald Trump's inauguration after skipping Jimmy Carter's funeral last week due to a "scheduling conflict" in Hawaii. "Joe and I respect our institutions, our traditions," she told the Post. "What would be the point of nastiness?"
Trump and Jill were spotted having a flirtatious exchange in December at the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. We assume they were conspiring to exact revenge on their common enemy, Crazy Nancy.
