Avoiding Interviews, Harris Sits Down With Running Mate To Talk ‘Tacos’

August 15, 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris, who has avoided interviews since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee, sat down with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, in a video released Thursday to talk about tacos.

"I have white guy tacos," Walz said to Harris in the campaign video entitled "Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on tacos, music, and the future of America."

"What does that mean, like mayonnaise and tuna? What are you doing?" Harris asked.

"Pretty much ground beef and cheese," he responded.

"That’s okay. Do you put any flavor in it?" she questioned.

"Uh, no … black pepper is the top of the spice level in Minnesota, you know," Walz said.

In the almost 10-minute video, the pair failed to discuss their administration’s policy visions despite mounting pressure from voters to lay out their platform as the Democratic ticket.

Harris has yet to sit down for an interview or hold a press conference since she emerged as her party’s presumptive nominee 25 days ago. Voters are waiting to hear how Harris will pivot from the failures of her boss’s administration as consumer prices soar and illegal immigrants flood the southern border. The Democratic candidate has also backpedaled, with little explanation, on numerous far-left policies she supported as a presidential candidate in 2020.

In the video, Harris and Walz also discussed their all-important "relationships to music." Harris doted over her love of Prince and Venn diagrams.

"But Prince, you know, in the Venn diagram of things, Prince, he and I love the same because, I mean, talk about how Prince was with that guitar, man," Harris said, speaking on her and her husband’s love for Prince despite having different music tastes.

In the remainder of the video, Walz highlighted his experience as a football coach and Harris reminisced about her decision to become a prosecutor.

"I’m looking at coach Walz right now, I’m looking at coach Walz!" Harris exclaimed.
