A panel on MSNBC mocked voters who are concerned about immigration during the network's Super Tuesday coverage.
"If you look at some of these exit polls—I mean, I live in Virginia," said Jen Psaki, who previously served as President Joe Biden's press secretary. "Immigration was the number one issue ... in Virginia."
"Well, Virginia does have a border with West Virginia—very contested area," longtime host Rachel Maddow replied, as the panel's members laughed.
Psaki also described her experiences with voters in New Hampshire.
"When I was in New Hampshire, people were talking about the northern border as a threat because [former president Donald] Trump has indoctrinated people with this fear of people who do not look like them being a threat to them," she said.
Voters have become increasingly concerned with the border crisis amid record levels of illegal immigration during Biden's time in office. A Monmouth University survey from last week found that a majority of Americans favored building a wall, the first time the organization's polling reflected the finding. In that poll, 84 percent of respondents said the issue of illegal immigration was a somewhat or very serious one.
Also last week, a Washington Free Beacon report detailed how migrants who have come into a small Wisconsin town have put a strain on its resources, increasing the population by 10 percent.
