President Joe Biden mistakenly praised the Congressional Black Caucus while he was speaking on Thursday to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Biden got confused as he honored a Catholic nun who received an award the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's annual gala.
"My dad used to say, 'Everyone—everyone—is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect.' The Congressional Black Caucus embodies all those values," the president said.
It was the latest mix-up for the gaffe-prone president.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has had a difficult time explaining the president's actions that have led Americans to question his fitness for office, including his recent decision to wander out of the room in the middle of a Medal of Honor Ceremony. Biden was simply trying to reduce the risk of exposing guests to COVID-19, Jean-Pierre said, despite the fact that Biden did not wear a mask either when he was leaving or when he put the medal around the 81-year-old recipient's neck.
About three-quarters of Americans either question Biden's ability to effectively serve another four years or believe he is too old to run for president again, according to polls from the Associated Press and Wall Street Journal, released in late August and early September, respectively.
