Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson called on her Twitter followers to use their mind power and visualize Hurricane Dorian turning away from affected areas.
"The Bahamas, Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas…may all be in our prayers now," Williamson tweeted Wednesday. "Millions of us seeing Dorian turn away from land is not a wacky idea; it is a creative use of the power of the mind. Two minutes of prayer, visualization, meditation for those in the way of the storm."
Williamson later deleted the tweet and posted a replacement that merely called on her followers to pray for those in the path of Dorian.
Prayers for the people of the Bahamas, Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. May the peace of God be upon them and their hearts be comforted as they endure the storm.

The original tweet was more in line with Williamson's background as a New Age self-help guru whose run for president is premised on "a politics of love." During previous tragedies like the BP oil spill, Williamson also called on followers to visualize "angels coming over it, filling it with sane and sacred thoughts."
Visualize the oil spill plugged. Close your eyes for 5 minutes and see angels coming over it, filling it with sane and sacred thoughts. #fb

Despite her somewhat unusual background, Williamson often polls as well or better than several Democratic presidential hopefuls with more conventional resumes. A recent Economist/YouGov poll found Williamson polling at 1 percent, the same as former congressman Beto O'Rourke and sitting senators Cory Booker and Michael Bennet, and more than the zero percent Senator Amy Klobuchar is polling at.
