Rep. Jim Moran’s Son Beats Girlfriend

Patrick Moran, the son of Rep. Jim Moran (D., Va.) who was forced to resign as his father’s campaign director after an undercover video caught him detailing ways to commit mass voter fraud, pleaded guilty today to beating his girlfriend outside of The Getaway bar in Columbia Heights on Dec. 1, according to the Washington City Paper.

Moran allegedly slammed his girlfriend's head into the bar's metal trash can cage.

After the attack, police described Moran's girlfriend as "bleeding heavily from her nose and also observed that her nose and right eye were extremely swollen." One of the ambulance technicians who transported her to Howard University Hospital told police that Moran appeared to have broken her nose and given her a skull fracture under her right eye.

This is the latest scandal for the Moran family. Conservative activist James O’Keefe caught Patrick in October "instructing a man on how to forge utility bills in order impersonate inactive voters at polling places in Virginia," which resulted in his removal from his father’s campaign.

Patrick’s uncle, Virginia Democratic Party Chairman Brian Moran, recently lied about obtaining Obama’s voter’s database for next year’s governors race. He also remained a lobbyist despite conflicts of interests with his party and Virginia law, during his term as the state’s party chairman.

Rep. Moran endured scrutiny for allegations of insider trading and controversial statements accusing the Jewish community of manipulating the war in Iraq.

Patrick’s charge was pleaded down from a felony domestic violence assault to just an assault. He was sentenced to probation.

This is not the first time a member of the Moran clan has run into legal issues related to hitting women:
