Republican National Committee chair Ronna Romney McDaniel slammed her Democratic counterpart Tom Perez in a joint interview on Sunday, hitting him for his repeated comments that Republicans "don't give a shit about people."
Back in April, the newly elected DNC chair gave a speech in New Jersey in which he rallied support against the Republicans' Obamacare repeal bill.
"You know what embodies the program," Perez said of the Republican replace plan, "'I Don't Care,' because they don't give a shit about people."
He's also said the GOP budget is a "shitty budget."
Perez and other figures on the Left have taken to cursing as a regular part of their political rhetoric. In April, a CNN panel called out Perez for his frequent cursing, saying that it turned people off the Democratic party.
McDaniel joined those condemning Perez's incendiary language while being interviewed alongside him on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"When Tom's saying Republicans don't give a blank about anyone, when he goes around and says that about the other party—I know Democrats care about other people," McDaniel said. "That type of rhetoric doesn't bring people to our parties. We have to have reasonable discussions, have a dialogue, be respectful of each other, but share our opinions as to what the best path is to get to the same place we both want to go, which is a better life for our kids, for our grandkids."
Host Chuck Todd explicitly asked Perez about the line, wondering, "Do you regret saying that?"
Perez pivoted to talking about the GOP bill to repeal Obamacare, rather than directly address Todd's question.
