Former President Barack Obama is causing frustration among Democrats by going on a plethora of luxury vacations following his exit from the White House.

Obama has taken his family on a series of tours of millionaire and billionaire luxury retreats in the last few months, according to Democrats and activists who spoke to Fox News.

Fox News listed some of the more memorable vacations the Obama family has enjoyed in 2017:

  • Visiting actor Marlon Brando's private island
  • Four Seasons in Bali, where rooms cost $2,000 per night minimum
  • A Palm Springs Estate
  • Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island
  • Mid Pacific Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii

Travel expert Kendra Thornton said, "These are some of the most luxurious travel destinations in the world. Many of our clients spend tens of thousands of dollars or more to stay at these resorts."

"Necker Island has a nightly price tag of $80,000," Thornton said. "Anyone who stays at these properties does so because they want the best of the best."

Democratic strategist and former adviser to President Jimmy Carter Pat Caddell weighed in.

"These trips are the lifestyles of the rich and famous," Caddell said.

While Obama had already been accused of being out of touch with the American people during his presidency, HBO comedian John Oliver told Seth Meyers on "Late Night" that Obama should "kick back a little less."

"I'm not sure he's ever been more out of touch than he is right now," Oliver said in February.

Obama has not only taken luxury in vacations, but has also charged hefty fees for speeches to prominent Wall Street firms.

Left-wing activists are upset with what they see as Obama's distancing from the base of the Democratic Party, according to the report. Activists told Fox News that this is part of Obama trying to join the one percent.

Besides the vacations, Obama has also donated $2 million to help young people in Chicago get apprenticeships and summer jobs, as well as mentoring young men from Chicago's South Side immediately after leaving office.

"Obama has a right to do whatever he wants," Caddell said. "But these trips really are a little bit rich."
