Several angry Connecticut parents took their children out of school this week when they learned Ivanka Trump was making a surprise visit, local media reported.

The presidential daughter and adviser visited Norwalk Early College Academy on Monday to talk to the students about the importance of career education. For security reasons, the visit was kept secret until the very last minute.

But the visit prompted "parents who oppose the president's views to pull their kids out of school," News 12 New Jersey reported.

"This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons," parent Karey Fitzgerald told the station. "I think we should have had the choice whether to send our child to school or keep them home."

The move by parents parallels the decision by some to pull their children out of school during a 2009 address by then-President Barack Obama that was broadcast nationwide to elementary students.

"It's a form of indoctrination, and I think, really, it's indicative of the culture that the Obama administration is trying to create," a Tampa, Florida mother told Fox News at the time.
