Clinton Defends Chelsea Staying on Foundation Board: Conflict of Interest Questions Will Be Addressed ‘After the Election’

Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that questions about potential conflicts of interest with the Clinton Foundation would be addressed "after the election."

A reporter on Clinton’s plane asked her if she felt the foundation’s announcement that Clinton’s daughter Chelsea would remain on the board, regardless of whether her mother was elected president, would raise "legitimate" issues about conflicts of interest.

"I do not," Clinton said. "As I’ve said over and over again, doesn’t matter how many times you ask me and how you ask me, these issues will be decided after the election, and we will decide the appropriate way forward."

The Clinton Foundation has drawn scrutiny over evidence that its donors received access, meetings, and favors from Clinton’s State Department. Bill Clinton has announced the foundation would cease accepting foreign donations should his wife win the White House, drawing questions as to why it was appropriate to accept such monies when she was secretary of state.
