Al-MSNBC Declares 3 Days of Rage

December 7, 2017

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the United States would officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and would begin the process of moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

This led MSNBC hosts and guests to declare three days of rage.

MSNBC anchors and reporters frequently repeated threats of violence from Palestinians.

"And that is why Palestinian fractions are calling for three days of rage," MSNBC reporter Ayman Mohyeldin said.

"By the way, deaths are coming now because of this," Hardball host Chris Matthews declared. "You can just bet the next few weeks we'll have hell to pay for this totally erratic decision by this president."

Guests on MSNBC joined the chorus that the U.S. and Israel will face violent backlash for Trump's decision.

"So for sure, the president's unilateral action will get people killed," MSNBC commentator Steve Schmidt said.

"This looks like a declaration of war on 1.6 billion Muslims," journalist and Palestinian analyst Rula Jebreal said.

Trump's decision fulfilled a promise he made on the campaign trail and one made by Democrats and Republicans in the past.

"Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and remain undivided," then-candidate Barack Obama said in 2008.

Obama never followed through and, like his predecessors Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, continued to sign the waiver that delayed the United States from moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Embassy Act, which the U.S. Congress passed by wide margins in 1995, calls for the U.S. to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move the embassy there. But the measure includes a provision that allows the president to issue a waiver to delay the embassy move six months at a time, if the president determines it is in the U.S. national security interest.
