Don’t tell the first lady, but President Obama will hold a $1 million pizza party in Detroit on April 18, courtesy of Denise Ilitch, daughter of Little Caesars’ founders Mike and Marian Ilitch.
The pizza baroness is opening her home April 18 for the fundraiser. Her family is worth billions, making it one of the most powerful in Michigan.
And this pizza isn’t cheap. Dinner and a photo costs $10,000, while $40,000 buys access to the post-dinner cocktail reception.
Ilitch described the event to Michigan Matters.
CAROL CAIN: Welcome back to "Michigan Matters." We’re here with the Roundtable. We’re talking about a dinner guest who is coming to Denise’s house reportedly on April 18th. He will be there for a fundraiser at your house. As I read, ticket prices are $10,000 to $40,000 to come to a dinner and have your picture taken and be part of the reception. All accurate?
DENISE ILITCH: That is exactly right. I’m just thrilled and very much support our president.
CAIN: And when it comes to what you’re going to be serving for dinner, would I be correct in assuming it’s going to be "Pizza Pizza"?
ILITCH: Little Caesars all the way.
CAIN: Will it be served on 14-karat gold plates? For $40,000… (LAUGHTER)

First lady Michelle Obama is a vocal opponent of unhealthy foods and launched her "Let’s Move" campaign to fight childhood obesity.
