Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) said Wednesday via Twitter that diversity is the United States military's greatest strength.
Warren's tweet was an indirect jab at President Trump's nominee for Army secretary, Mark Green, who is facing criticism after his comments on evolution and transgenderism were revealed. He called transgenderism a disease, which caused a firestorm among Democrats and LGBT groups.
"If you poll the psychiatrists, they're going to tell you that transgender is a disease," Green previously said.
Warren tweeted that the Army secretary must show genuine support for all who serve in the armed forces, while arguing that the military's "greatest strength" is its diversity.
Our military force's diversity is its greatest strength. The Army Secretary must show genuine support for ALL of our men & women in uniform.

People on Twitter mocked Warren's belief that diversity is the military's greatest strength, arguing that weapons, training, and other factors related to the country's defense are more pertinent.
@SenWarren No it's their weapons and the warriors that are the strength. Not a bunch of bleeding heart BS

@SenWarren Our military's greatest strength is the weapons we produce for them and the training they get to use them.

@SenWarren Our military's strength is how efficiently we deliver superior firepower, and not pandering to social justice politics.

@SenWarren The military is not about diversity. It is about unity. Its not about you. It is about the mission. You wouldn't know that.

@SenWarren I'm a veteran & the diversity/identity politics rhetoric makes me CRINGE. Our strength was unity not diversity
