'There's also a bit of an obsession with criticism from Fox News'

A new set of emails released by the State Department Monday night revealed the close relationship Hillary Clinton had with her informal adviser Sidney Blumenthal, a journalist and former aide to President Bill Clinton.

Blumenthal advised Hillary Clinton on domestic and foreign policy issues, passing along both gossip and policy prescriptions.

Blumenthal slammed House Speaker John Boehner in a character analysis, writing, "He is careworn and threadbare, banal and hollow…Boehner is neither feared nor loved."

In another email about a GOP candidate who participated in Nazi re-enactments, Blumenthal wrote, "H: Dems should demand Boehner remove this GOP Nazi re-enactor. Put Boehner in this blitzkrieg. Sid"

He also offered pointers on foreign policy. In an email advising Clinton on negotiations with Iran he wrote, "Targeted sanctions are absolutely necessary, but are most effective diplomatically when always coupled with an offer to negotiate."

Blumenthal also sent along his son Max’s anti-Israel articles and told Clinton to show Israel "tough love." He flaunted his son’s success on numerous occasions, titling one e-mail,"Phenom:Max is #10, now ahead of Glenn Beck; #1 political and history book."

While not officially employed by the State Department, Blumenthal was reportedly added to the Clinton Foundation’s payroll in 2009.
