The United States Army is developing hoverbikes for military use.
In partnership with the British company Malloy Aeronautics, the Army has created a working prototype hoverbike. The hoverbike is intended as a helicopter alternative. It comes in manned and unmanned versions which can fly at up to 9,000 feet.
However, according to Malloy Aeronautics, the military won't be the only ones getting access to the hoverbike in coming years. "The civilian hoverbike is at the forefront of our objective," Malloy Aeronautics sales director Grant Stapleton told Defense One. "It will be around the cost of a top-of-the-line SUV."
