VIDEO: Montel Williams Pleads With Obama To 'Make The Call Today' For Sergeant Tahmooressi

Talk show host Montel Williams urged President Obama to "make the call" to Mexican President Enrique Nieto to release imprisoned Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

"It is, right now, 11:05, if this hearing's gonna stop in the next 10 minutes, I think the president needs to pick up the phone in 15," Williams said. "Make the call, make the call today."

Williams, who served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, revealed that his outspoken involvement in Sgt. Tahmoressi's case came from recent personal communications with Tahmooressi's mother.

"I have a daughter right now who has been going through cancer treatments for a year," Williams said. "This woman, since June, has sent a prayer to my family every day, for my daughter."

Williams said that if President Obama was unable to make the call, the Committee should issue a joint statement directly to President Nieto.

"The world's watching," Williams said. "It's time for you to act."
