Speaker of the House John Boehner (R., Ohio) provided a preview of how the House may proceed against embattled former IRS official Lois Lerner Monday on The Kelly File.
Boehner said the House Ways and Means Committee will go into executive session on Wednesday to outline how Lerner and possibly other officials at the IRS misled Congress and refer the case to the Justice Department.
Additionally, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee could cite her for contempt on Thursday. The Speaker added if that scenario plays out, the full House could vote to hold Lerner in contempt after Congress's Easter break.
"We know that Ms. Lerner gave up her right to plead the fifth, she refused to testify and she testified and spoke with the prosecutors of the Justice Department. I don't know why she wouldn't talk to the Congress and to the American people," he said.
