This is important. This is the key to understanding the 2016 election. Pay attention.

Every time the GOP thought it had trapped Donald Trump—with the pledge, for instance—and every time the press thought he had done something so outrageous that his campaign was over only to see his numbers go up, this was the only gif you needed:

And every time a Republican candidate for president endorsed Donald Trump after calling him essentially unfit to lead the country, or a voter said they didn't care when he flip flopped on an issue, or a conservative media hack looked the other way when it was revealed that his companies had hired illegal immigrants and manufactured his goods overseas and hired seasonal workers, this was the only gif you needed:

I'm not saying that we should expect world capitals to disappear in blue balls of destructive light over the next three months, as happened at the end of Watchmen. But I'm not not saying it, either.
