Hillary Clinton fansite Media Matters doesn’t want its preferred candidate to have a primary challenger.
"Hillary Clinton's race for the White House might be historic in more than ways than one," writes senior Hillary Clinton fan Eric Boehlert. "Not only would a successful presidential campaign usher in a new era of a female president, but if Clinton ends up running unopposed during the Democratic primary season it would represent a modern-day first for a non-incumbent or a non-sitting vice president."
Boehlert leaves out the fact that Clinton could also become one of the oldest world leaders in history, which would be significantly more impressive that being the first modern president to win her party’s nomination without a primary challenge.
A contested primary, Boehlert argues, would hurt Clinton in the same way it hurt Al Gore in 2000. You know, because of the media’s bias toward Democrats. Not because Gore was (and Clinton is) a bland, awkward candidate who didn’t (and doesn’t) perform well under pressure.
Media Matters would clearly prefer that Clinton be coronated as the Democratic nominee in "historic" fashion, given its ties to Clinton fanboy and perennial drama queen David Brock, who gets paid a lot of money to professionally adore Hillary Clinton.
This palpable panic is a great sign for Democrats who want a viable alternative to Clinton. Listen closely, Americans. Hear that freight train coming round the bend.
